The Church of the Madonna dei Lumi is located in San Gimignano at the southern end of Via San Giovanni, near the Porta San Giovann. The church was built in 1601 to a design by the architect Francesco Panzini from San Gimignano. Inside, it is decorated with stucco and monochrome paintings, painted in 1794 by Pietro Scaliano.
Because it obstructed part of the busy Porta San Giovanni, it was partially demolished in 1922.
From this church comes a 16th-century panel painting by Sebastiano Mainardi depicting the Madonna and Child and Two Angels, which is currently in the Municipal Art Gallery.
