City Guide Termini Imerese

Termini Imerese is a city with a rich history dating back to ancient times. Originally a Punic settlement, it later fell under the control of various rulers, including the Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans . It offers a beautiful coastal location and a lively cultural scene . It offers both historical and natural attractions for visitors to enjoy.

The city walk starts at the Porta Palermo , one of the 10 city gates in the 3.8 km long wall of the city. Here is also the Cappella dell'immacolata , with a very original image of the Immaculate Conception.

We pass the remains of the old Roman theater and the Belvédère with a beautiful panorama. Above are the remains of the castle. The Cathedral of San Nicola di Bari with the striking bell tower next to the main facade has an impressive interior. Continue past the renowned Cine Teatro Eden and past the basilica-like chiesa dell'Annunziata with its blue majolica dome.

We pass the Chiesa di Sant'Orsola with the tower of the Saccari and a few more churches.

The walk ends on the monumental steps of Via Roma built at the end of the 19th century. Historic buildings such as the medieval tower and the Jesuit school used as a tribunal overlook the staircase.
