Route description

This walk is highly recommended to do in nice weather. The beautiful stream valleys bring peace and relaxation to the hiker through the rippling water that accompanies you throughout the entire route. You will also get a huge natural boost through the 187-hectare Habitat Natura 2000 , not to mention the Railroad 164 that Wiltz of 1944 converted into a cycle path connected with Bastogne until 1967.

Winseler is one of the eight beautiful typical Ardennes villages, a stone's throw from the N15. The villages of Berlé, Doncols, Grümelscheid, Pommerloch and Noertrange, situated in the plateau and Schleif, Sonlez and Winseler in a valley, together form the municipality of Winseler.

You leave with your back to the town hall (where you can get a free map of the municipality of Winseler) on the right up to the old railway crossing that you cross and then take the first left where you will see a slate rock habitat on the right. You follow this road to Grümelscheid, along the river Wiltz, which together with its river bed forms a large part of the Habitat Natura 2000 . Habitat Natura 2000 is a European nature project with the aim of offering different species of birds in Europe a chance of survival. This project, called " La Vallée supérieure de la Wiltz / Derenbach-Weischent ", has a surface area of 187 ha and is largely located around the "Wiltz" river. In the village of Grümelscheid you can visit an open-air museum of old agricultural machines. You return to the route where you turn right to the hard road where you turn left. You now have a beautiful view of the valley with the river De Wiltz and the Habitat Natura 2000 . At the picnic area you turn left and you are on the bike path where the train used to be. Follow this road to Winseler where you turn right to the starting point. Along the way you still have a habitat "former slate dump" and a little further away, nor a slate rock habitat, on the way .

Don't forget to visit the " Baurengaart " behind the town hall.

A Topographical Walking Map of Luxembourg R2 Boulaide Wiltz fits this area.
