In Markelo they have their own motorcycle event on the Herikerberg every year. The farms bear typical names such as: Beelhorst, Meutstege, n Hook and the campsites are well cared for in the woods. Windmill De Hoop from 1836 runs its mandatory rounds in the center to meet the demand of the items offered for sale. If you want to eat something from the region, you are welcome at this impressive mill on the Stationsstraat. On the left on the corner of the Grotestraat is a "Rietveld chair" waiting for you with a view of the opposite tourist office. You can also experience something from the region, because in July and August the party is in Markelo. Then the authentic Twente peasant weddings in 1830 are celebrated.
