Fisheries Museum Breskens

With the help of ship models, scale models, photos, and film images, visitors can become acquainted with the history of this Zeeland fishing village. An exciting film shows life aboard a modern cutter and the fishermen who are out at sea at night and in bad weather to practice their often dangerous profession.

Remains of long-lost ships, fossil bones, shells, and shark teeth from the Pleistocene are all on display in the fisheries museum. There is a beautiful collection of paintings by Johnny Beerens with the theme "FISHING." In the large cold-water sea aquarium with various sections, live fish, crabs, shrimp, starfish, and lobsters can be admired. No less than 845 native and tropical birds alongside dozens of mammals, countless shells, and special corals are displayed in large showcases in a special room. A wide variety of various ship equipment is, of course, also part of the exhibits, in short, there is so much to see, hear, and smell.
