Guntherstein

This is the third Gunterstein on this spot. The two earlier castles were destroyed. This house was built in 1680 as a summer residence on the castle foundations, which is why it still looks like a castle, complete with a moat and drawbridge. The owner specified in her will that the house must always remain in the family and cannot be sold. This has been successful for all these centuries, so the house is still inhabited by her descendants. In the park behind Gunterstein, one can walk freely. The entrance to the park is 200 meters from the castle, on the Laan van Gunterstein.

Along the entire quay between Boom and Bosch and Gunterstein, one can dock on the Gunterstein side at the wooden poles. However, it is not easy to get ashore here! Going under the bridge makes it easier to get on and off. This can be done on the right side immediately after the bridge, or a bit further at the unloading quay on the left side. It is definitely worth docking here, as Breukelen is a beautiful historic town full of nice shops and cozy terraces. Here you can shop for the trendiest clothes, the tastiest delicacies, or the most beautiful art.
