The Oldambt is a region between the ancient Ommelanden and Westerwolde in East Groningen. It originally consists of the two areas Klei-Oldambt and Wold-Oldambt that have been merged. The Oldambt is originally an agricultural community. The area is very sparsely populated by Dutch standards and is economically underdeveloped.
