Castle Gardens Arcen

Kasteeltuinen Arcen is an estate near Arcen Castle, in the Limburg village of Arcen. Castle Gardens Arcen is part of the Limburg Landscape Foundation.


The entire Arcen estate has approximately 450 hectares and has been split into two parts since the construction of the N271. On the west side is the actual castle with castle gardens, on the east side is the Lingsfort area. The entire estate was purchased in 1976 by the Limburg Landscape Foundation, and the castle was restored in the mid-1980s. Apart from the castle and the castle gardens, the estate nowadays consists mainly of a few forest types. Barbara's Weerd is also part of the estate; a piece of land that runs along the Meuse from Lomm to Arcen where today mainly Galloways graze.
