On Buuren-Buiten

New estates, houses, or residential areas are still being built along the Vecht. Sometimes in a historic style, sometimes hyper-modern. This occasionally fuels the debate: is the Vecht region a kind of open-air museum where everything must stay as it was and new buildings must occur in 'old style', or should there be no constraint on the region, allowing for expanded and very contemporary construction? In the new neighborhood Op Buuren, located on both banks of the Vecht, a compromise has been found in this dilemma. The highly varied architecture showcases both historical and contemporary designs inspired by the original character of the Vecht villages. The 'estate' of Op Buuren-Buiten is an apartment building that is currently under construction. It is situated, like the 17th and 18th-century villas, on the riverbank in a green environment with an open and landscape-oriented character. Even in detailing, dimensions, proportions, and quality materials, this 'new estate' corresponds with its predecessors, which it is inspired by.
