The church of Oostum is a church on the mound of Oostum near Garnwerd in the province of Groningen. The church is owned by the Old Groningen Churches Foundation. The church is one of the stages of the annual Zomerjazzfietstour.De church was built in the middle of the 13th century and was dedicated to James the Greater. Originally, the church had three bays. But due to the construction of the church tower in the 14th century, half a bay was removed, so that only two and a half bays remain. In the south façade there is ornamental brickwork in the style of the Romano-Gothic. Unusually, the gable roof tower, which was probably placed in the 16th century, is transverse, unlike other gable roof towers in the region. The wide side of the tower is against the church. In the tower hangs a bell, dating from 1466 and made by Henrik Kokenbacker for the church of Feerwerd, located northwest of Oostum. Against the west façade two small buttresses were built in 1821.
