Singraven

Singraven is an estate near Denekamp in the municipality of Dinkelland. In addition to the manor, the estate also includes the water mill of Singraven aan de Dinkel, a coach house and a number of tenant farms.
Singraven is first mentioned in 1381 and the first House of Singraven dates back to 1415. The name Singraven means "big moat". Residents/owners of the first house Singraven included the Oldenzaal Beguines and the Counts of Bentheim. The dilapidated house was demolished in 1651-1653 and replaced by a new house to which a stair tower was added in 1661. By inheritance the house came into the possession of the De Thouars family, among others, and by sale in 1829 to the Roessingh Udink family. Several generations of this family have refurbished and rebuilt the estate. In addition, the façade has been extended 4 meters forward, the buildings at the front have been demolished to get an unobstructed view and a large driveway has been constructed from the Ootmarsumsestraat to the house. The last private occupant/owner, Willem Frederik Jan Laan, gave ownership of the estate to the Edwina van Heek Foundation in 1966, even after extensive renovations and restorations.
