Before this chapel was built, a lot preceded it. At first, they wanted to build a chapel together with the hamlet of Tiggeltseberg. This did not happen, but the stones for the construction were already ready opposite the Boomkensevaart, at the beginning of the hamlet Het Zwart Moerken.
However, Rector van Hooijdonk (rector of the Bethany convent) insisted that the chapel opposite the Bethany convent be built by the Dominican sisters. In the end, he got his way and this chapel was built on the corner of Pater Taksweg and Ettenseweg, which is dedicated to Our Lady of Brabant. This name was probably chosen to make it clear that Rijsbergen belongs to Brabant.
The land was ceded by the municipality, while rector Van Hooijdonk and Jaan Voermans collected money from the local residents to pay for the construction. On May 5, 1945, Father Verbunt took care of the consecration. The chapel was built out of gratitude for the good outcome of the war.
In the past, prayers were held at the chapel every evening in the month of May, as well as on Sundays during the rest of the summer until October.
