In 1983, Frank Storbeck, computer scientist, geologist and scientific collaborator at the University of Amsterdam, calculated the exact location of the center of gravity of the Netherlands. The computer pointed to a field in the Sprielderbos in the municipality of Putten, located at the intersection Peppelerweg and Oude Prinsenweg. The center of gravity is slightly different from the well-known center of the Netherlands, which is located on a hill in the woods of Lunteren. Some call the center of gravity the point around which the mass of a body is equally distributed . Harrie Hageman came up with the original idea to enrich the exact location of the centre of gravity with a distinguishing mark.
