Lobith

Lobith is a Dutch town known as the point where the Rhine flows into the Netherlands. It is part of the municipality of Rijnwaarden in the province of Gelderland.A well-known misconception is that the Rhine crosses the German-Dutch border at Lobith. However, this is an old fact. In the past, the course of the Rhine was artificially adjusted, so that it now enters the country at Spijk. In Lobith is the parish church of St. Mary Immaculate Conception. On the Sunday between Ascension and Pentecost (7th Sunday of Easter), the solemn militia mass takes place here every year, followed by the procession with the Blessed Sacrament. The procession - including the monstrance with the Most Holy, pastors and altar boys, militias and others - continues over the Markt, the Walhof and the Dorpsdijk. In the parish church, the blessing with the monstrance is solemnly given at the end of the procession. The days surrounding the sacrament procession there is a fair and archer's festival in the center of Lobith, where the king-shooting is of eminent importance. In Lobith is the Tolhuys Coornmolen, a flour mill from 1888 that was completely restored in 1995.
