New Bussummerheide

The Nieuw Bussummerheide is a nature reserve of the Goois Nature Reserve between Huizen and Naarden on the territory of the municipality of Huizen. The area between the Nieuwe Bussumerweg and the Naarderweg borders the Limitische Heide. To the east it borders the Erica terrain forest area. In the past, the heath formed with the Limitische Heide and the Vliegheide a connecting band from heath from the Naarder Eng to the Tafelberg- and Blaricummerheide. The heath is located in a moraine area with a heath complex containing smaller pieces of drifting sand and scattered storage of wood crops with deciduous and coniferous forest at the edges. The area is intersected by hiking trails. Charolais cattle ensure that the area remains open through grazing.
