Fort at Penningsveer

Fort bij Penningsveer is used as a group accommodation for schools and institutions, for holding training sessions and events. The Fort Penningsveer Foundation focuses particularly on people who, from a social point of view, need extra support. Fort Penningsveer has overnight stays for groups of up to 66 people. The fort also has a room that lends itself to exhibitions, receptions or business meetings. It is also a wedding location for the municipality of Haarlemmerliede. In addition, spaces have been rented out to small (start-up) companies.

The fort is not freely accessible to visitors.
Guided tours are available every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can report to the reception.

History
Fort bij Penningsveer was built in the period 1895 - 1901. From 1913 to 1922, the fort was permanently occupied. To the north of the fort, on the Lagedijk, is a concrete auxiliary battery and a shrapnel-proof shelter. To the south of the fort are inlet sluices that could be used to create a separate military Liedeboezem.
Fort bij Penningsveer is a provincial monument. The wooden fort keeper's house is the only house in the Defence Line of Amsterdam to have two floors. After the Second World War, the fort was used for some time as an internment camp for collaborators.
