The Galgeven area is a nature reserve located south of Berkel-Enschot, owned by the Brabants Landschap Foundation and part of the management unit Oude Hondsberg, Ter Braakloop and Galgeven. The Galgeven is a pond of 16 ha surrounded by hills. One of them once had a gallows, and on another stood a wind-powered fulling mill from 1811. This mill was built by the Tilburg textile manufacturer Van den Bergh, a name that still appears in the later wool brands BeKa and AaBe. The mill was a complete factory settlement with several workers' houses and an office. For this reason, the pond was also known as Berghven. The mill and settlement have disappeared, but some deciduous trees recall the location where all of this once stood.
