Fortress at the Liebrug

Fort bij de Liebrug is home to the wine importers Casa Fortezza (Italian wine and olive oil) and Les Chiens Blancs (French wine) and Saddler DS Equestrian.

Casa Fortezza is open every regular Saturday from 13:00 to 16:00. Feel free to drop by, there are always a few wines open. There are also artisanal balsamic vinegars and many types of organic olive oil from the barrel to taste and obtain. Casa Fortezza also regularly organizes overview wine tastings on Sundays. Les Chiens Blancs Wine Import is open every Saturday afternoon and also organises regular wine tastings. Information: www.leschiensblancs.nl

History
Fort bij de Liebrug was formed to defend the access by the railway, canal and road between Amsterdam. Since the most important defensive tasks were carried out by the forts at Penningsveer and on the Liede, a smaller defensive structure could suffice. In contrast to many other forts, the keel casemates in Fort bij de Liebrug differ in size. Between this fort and the Fort on the Liede is a remnant of a line wall containing a secondary battery and shrapnel-proof shelters.
