About here once stood the old country house Crailo. The avenue is the line of sight from that house and owes its name to the museum that one of the owners kept. On the right at no. 3 the gardener's house of the estate and at no. 1 the current country house Oud Crailo, built at the end of the 19th century. The garden of this covers another 1 ha. Crailo, was founded in 1628 by K. van Rensselaer, administrator of the WIC, and remained in the family for two centuries. It covered about 100 ha. In 1939 part of Crailo was bought by GNR. Van Rensselaer owned a much larger Crailo in New Amsterdam (New York).
