Periscopes Capelle

Five periscopes in the Vuykpark along the banks of the Hollandsche IJssel offer a completely different view of Capelle. The design of the artwork is by Bram Hurkens of Ateliereen Architects from Eindhoven. These viewers act as a periscope, allowing visitors to look over the surroundings without going up themselves. Users see framed images, from a surprising perspective. In the viewers / periscopes a silhouette has been made that tells something about the history of, for example, the Vuyk shipyard that used to be there. The periscopes are free to use. And if you look closely, you will also find the sixth periscope (not in the photo).

In the park area next to it is also a playground for the children and a restaurant with a large terrace with a lot of views of the Hollandsche IJssel.
