This route is part of trekking in Annapurna area
Day 8: Ghasa (2000m) – Tatopani (1250m) – 21 km
We leave Ghasa behind , leaving the predominantly Buddhist part of the region and entering Hindu Nepal.
In 2007 there was no road between Beni and Muktinath. We have n't seen a car in a week. But we see them carving a path out of the rocks (with explosives). This meant that everything had to be done on foot and by donkey . Hallucinatory image: at one point we cross a man with a cooler on his back.
We cross the long suspension bridge Ghasa Bridge .
We follow a beautiful path strewn with rocks and stones and there are many steps up and down .
Today we encounter a striking number of donkey caravans . We learn that donkeys always have to be driven up the mountain so that they don't get pushed off the road.
At 10 am we pass Kopchepani and continue to Kavre Dana . We pass a beautiful waterfall for the first time. The current gets much bigger here. Wild water flows quickly through large blocks of water.
At the next big waterfall Rukse Chhahara we stop at a small hut for a drink.
In Dana we walk over a slightly wider bridge over a tributary that flows into the Kali Gandaki here.
Before 12 o'clock we are at the guesthouse Dana for lunch.
We pass a man with a 16 year old girl on his back . There is also a woman. The girl has a bandage on her foot. We have a doctor in our group who is conducting a study on the impact of altitude on us compared to the local population. The Doctor makes his way to the party and is briefly left behind. It turns out that the girl's foot caught the wheel of a moped . They come from the Mustang area and have been on their way to Pokhara for 2 days with their mother and a porter , where the girl is also studying. A nurse treated the foot provisionally and sewed up the wound rudimentarily. The doctor suggests that people come behind us to continue tending the wound during our night
In the afternoon it rains and at 14:30 we arrive in Tatopani soaked.
Tatopani is known for its hot springs. Time for a visit to the thermal baths!
Be sure to consult the information about the sights here once you are on site. They explain what you get to see!
