Frederic Thompson and Skip Dundy built in 1903 an Amusement park on Coney Island. They built here Luna Park. It was named after an attraction in Buffalo, where you could make a virtual trip to the moon. Hence the name. The Luna Park went down in 1907 but the name as a tourist attraction survived. The park is now a parking lot, but Coney Island still has many other Luna Parks.
