A group of statues depicting one of the major themes of the Passion of Christ: the crucifixion of Christ on the Cross with Saint John Magdalene and the Virgin of Sorrows.
Our Lady of Sorrows and John the Evangelist are two polychrome wooden carved statues traditionally attributed to America and dating from the mid-eighteenth century . The ensemble is completed by a third statue, Saint Mary Magdalene, whose hands and head were made in Genoa.
They were taken to the Monastery of San Juan Bautista (MM Poor Clares) after the fire that occurred in the ancient Shrine of San Miguel de las Victorias (Royal Shrine of St. John the Baptist). Christ of La Laguna) in 1810.
The three statues that previously performed separately are now carried in the same procession.
