Bavikhove es una aldea en la provincia belga de Flandes Occidental y una subcomuna de Harelbeke. Esta subcomuna se encuentra entre las subcomunas de Harelbeke y Hulste, a lo largo del Leie. Según la leyenda, el asentamiento fue fundado por San Bavo, quien vivió en el siglo VII. En 1120, Bavikhove fue mencionado por primera vez como villa Bavinghova, una composición de un nombre personal y el sufijo -hof, asentamiento. Se construyó una primera iglesia de piedra en la primera mitad del siglo XII. Partes de esta iglesia, construida con piedra caliza de Tournai, se han conservado en la iglesia actual. Ya antes de 1146, el derecho de patronazgo de la iglesia estaba en posesión de la abadía de San Bartolomé de Noyon.
