El punto geográfico central de Flandes fue determinado por estudiantes de la facultad de ciencias aplicadas de la universidad de Leuven.
A través de mediciones GPS y con la ayuda del profesor de matemáticas se determinó el punto: se encuentra exactamente en la esquina más extrema de Flandes Oriental, a pocos metros del territorio de Sint-Amands, cerca del Lippelobos, pero aún en Opdorp, una parroquia de Buggenhout. Las coordenadas son: 51° 2′ 16″ N, 4° 14′ 26″ O
