El núcleo de la iglesia de San Pedro de los Grilletes data de alrededor del año 1300, y lo demás se construyó durante diversas obras de adaptación y restauración. Semmerzake también goza de cierta notoriedad porque aquí se encuentran instalaciones de radar y puestos de control subterráneos de la fuerza aérea.
