La torre de apartamentos cuadrada es un vestigio del edificio medieval, otras partes son del siglo XVI. En el siglo XVII se llevaron a cabo grandes renovaciones.
Los propietarios medievales fueron las familias D'Houffalize y Brandenberg, seguidas en los siglos XVI y XVII por las familias de D'Eynatten, Berlo y Groesbeek. La familia De Lannoy adquirió el castillo en el siglo XVII y lo mantuvo hasta el siglo XIX; luego pasó a ser propiedad de los Berlaymonts. De ellos, el barón Adhemar de Royer de Dour de Fraula adquirió el castillo en 1920 y sus descendientes todavía residen allí.
