El Hageland se distingue de otras regiones por sus colinas Diestianas o colinas testigo. Estas colinas son los bancos de arena que quedaron cuando el mar Diestiano se retiró, hace unos 7 millones de años. Una vez que el banco de arena entró en contacto con el aire, el hierro se oxido y la arena se aglutinó hasta convertirse en una dura arenisca de hierro de color óxido. Aquí encontrarás en el borde del valle varias de estas colinas testigo. La colina aquí está rodeada de pinos de Molenberg. Más adelante en la caminata, pasarás por la montaña Hooilandse.
