A la altura de la estación de Berchem, gran parte del paisaje está dominado por la construcción. El espacio abierto frente a la estación es, junto con las bermas de las vías, prácticamente el único trozo verde que conecta con el lado de Oud-Berchem. La plaza contiene únicamente vegetación ornamental, con poco valor ecológico o recreativo. De hecho, es especialmente desde el aire que la idea del diseño es claramente visible.
