La famosa cantante Ann Christy falleció en 1984, a la edad de 38 años a causa de cáncer de cuello de útero. Fue cremado y sus cenizas fueron esparcidas en el cementerio de Meise. Ann Christy sigue estando en las listas de éxitos de la música en neerlandés, como en la lista de los Países Bajos. Se hizo conocida con canciones como Gelukkig Zijn, De Roos y Dag Vreemde Man.
Su esposo, Marc Hoyois, con quien tuvo un hijo, se volvió a casar más tarde con otra cantante, Liliane Saint-Pierre.
