En el siglo XIX, el ayuntamiento de Edegem estaba ubicado en una posada. Debido al rápido crecimiento de la población y a que el municipio solo disponía de dos habitaciones en esta posada, se decidió en 1910 construir un auténtico ayuntamiento. El edificio de ladrillo en estilo ecléctico fue solemnemente inaugurado en 1912. El techo y la torre fueron destruidos por un incendio en 1961. Desde 1981, el antiguo ayuntamiento y su entorno inmediato forman un paisaje rural protegido. Mientras tanto, el municipio de Edegem ha construido un nuevo ayuntamiento cerca.
