El Museo de Curiosidades fue fundado por Antoon Vanneste. Estaba ubicado en la calle Peperstraat 24 en Heule, y dejó de existir cuando el fundador-conservador Antoon Vanneste falleció el 6 de noviembre de 2001.
El origen del museo de curiosidades se remonta a 1963, cuando Antoon, al limpiar el desván de su casa en la calle Peperstraat, descubrió algunos objetos de la posada “Au Lion d'Or”, que había estado ubicada en la casa. Antoon convocó al “marchand de viejos hierros”, pero este tardó demasiado en llegar, así que él comenzó a limpiar algunas piezas y a colocarlas entre su colección de aves disecadas. El resultado le agradó, y de ahí surgió una cosa tras otra. Poco a poco, una habitación tras otra de la casa fue ocupada con nuevas piezas.
