En 1569 el primer obispo de Namur, Mons. Antoine Havet, un modesto seminario menor op. Fue construido con planta en U abierta a un patio y flanqueada por dos pequeñas alas al norte y la capilla al sur. Abolido en 1797, fue restaurado en 1805 por el obispo Charles-François de Pisani de la Gaude.
Después de haber sido trasladado durante unos treinta años a Salzinnes, en el lugar de la antigua abadía cisterciense, el Gran Seminario de Namur, hoy Seminario de Notre-Dame , volvió a los muros de la antigua institución en el año 2000 para continuar su misión de formación de los sacerdotes. para la Iglesia hoy.
Desde 2010 , seminaristas de las cuatro diócesis francófonas de Bélgica (Namur, Lieja, Tournai y Mechelen-Bruselas) se forman juntos en Namur.
