La actual iglesia neoclásica fue construida en 1842 después de que la antigua iglesia gótica se encontrara en un estado ruinoso a principios del siglo XIX y tiene una historia que se remonta al siglo XII.
Dentro de la iglesia, sobre el altar cuelga la pintura «La predicación de San Lamberto», patrón de los trabajadores textiles, de quien toma su nombre la iglesia. El altar en sí también es especial. Contiene una piedra azul procedente del mausoleo de Jan III van Poeke, último descendiente de los Señores de Poeke originales.
El cementerio que rodea , principalmente en el lado norte de la iglesia, contiene lápidas de los señores del castillo de Poeke y ofrece una visión general de los monumentos funerarios del siglo XX.
