El emplazamiento actual fue originalmente el emplazamiento de una iglesia románica, destruida durante los conflictos religiosos del cuarto cuarto del siglo XVI. Posteriormente fue restaurada, pero demolida entre 1840 y 1844. La iglesia actual fue consagrada en 1845 .
La iglesia es de estilo neoclásico , con muros de ladrillo y piedra arenisca para el zócalo y las piedras angulares. El edificio cuenta con una torre oeste cuadrada empotrada con dos arcos de medio punto bajo una aguja estrecha.
La iglesia cuenta con una pila bautismal de piedra azul del siglo XVII. Del siglo XVIII datan algunas pinturas de la escuela flamenca, los altares laterales de madera marmórea y el púlpito. Dos tabiques del siglo XVIII proceden de la antigua sillería del coro.
La iglesia contiene un órgano de 1856, posiblemente de Bernhard Dreymann (Mainz).
