Genthod es una comuna suiza del cantón de Ginebra, situada en la orilla derecha del lago Lemán. Limita al norte con la comuna de Versoix, al este con Collonge-Bellerive, y al sur y oeste con Bellevue.
De 1536 a 1564, la comuna estuvo bajo la dominación bernesa; de 1564 a 1590, bajo la regencia de los saboyanos; de 1590 a 1601, bajo influencia ginebrina; de 1601 a 1816 bajo la dominación francesa. En 1816 tras el Congreso de Viena, Ginebra al convertirse en cantón suizo, está aislado del resto del territorio helvético, es así como negocea con Francia la compra de las tierras que se encuentran a orillas del lago, para poder al menos tener un paso hasta Vaud. Genthod hace parte de los dominios negociados entre franceses y suizos.
