Crostau es un lugar en el distrito de Bautzen y se encuentra en medio de la región montañosa de Oberlausitz, en la esquina suroeste del distrito de Görlitz. Hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2010, era un municipio independiente y desde entonces forma parte de la ciudad de Schirgiswalde-Kirschau.
El nombre del lugar está, como en el caso de Crostwitz, derivado de la palabra en antiguo sorbio chróst que significa "matorral".
