La oficina de Kellinghusen se formó el 1 de enero de 2008 a partir de la ciudad de Kellinghusen, que hasta entonces no tenía oficina, de los municipios de la antigua oficina de Kellinghusen-Land y de los municipios de Hohenlockstedt y Lockstedt que pertenecían a la antigua oficina de Hohenlockstedt.
