Döbeln es una ciudad en el Estado Libre de Sajonia, capital del Distrito de Döbeln y localizada en ambas orillas del río "Freiberger Mulde ". Se sitúa en la zona de Mittelsächsischen, dentro del triángulo que componen las ciudades de Chemnitz, Dresde y Leipzig. A su alrededor se sitúan zonas de valles y paisaje montañoso. La población alcanzó su punto máximo en 1950 con 31.037 habitantes y cayendo más o menos a 21.816 habitantes hacia 2003.
