Clausthal-Zellerfeld es una ciudad en el distrito de Goslar en Baja Sajonia, donde se ubica la Universidad Tecnológica de Clausthal. Se encuentra en el Oberharz, a una altitud de entre 390 y 821 m s. n. m. , y la ciudad tiene el nombre del pueblo y universidad de la montaña y es considerado como un sitio de descanso. [1]
Clausthal-Zellerfeld se encuentra en la meseta del Oberharz, cuyo área es relativamente la menos montañosa de la región, por ende el área esta cubierta de praderas encerrada por un bosque, por los alrededores se encuentran numerosos estanques y reservas de agua, jugando un papel natural en la región. La ciudad esta separada entre un valle entre Clausthal y Zellerfeld, el pequeño Clausthal se extiende hacia el suroeste.
