Dobitschen es un municipio situado en el distrito de Altenburger Land, en el estado federado de Turingia , a una altitud de 255 metros. Su población a finales de 2015 era de unos 480 habitantes y su densidad poblacional, 73 hab/km². Se encuentra junto a la frontera con el estado de Sajonia-Anhalt.[1][2]
No pertenece a ninguna mancomunidad , ya que las funciones de mancomunidad las realiza la vecina ciudad de Schmölln.[3] En su territorio se incluyen las pedanías de Meucha, Pontewitz y Rolika, antiguos municipios que fueron integrados en el término municipal de Dobitschen entre 1950 y 1957 y que actualmente son pequeñas aldeas con una veintena de habitantes cada una.[4]
