Un castillo con historia: el castillo se originó en el siglo XIII y luego se amplió y se rodeó de murallas en el siglo XV. En 1543, el emperador Carlos V logró apoderarse del castillo del conde de Jülich. Los franceses lo convirtieron posteriormente en bien nacional y lo vendieron. Sin embargo, el propietario de entonces no pudo mantener el edificio por sí solo, y el castillo se deterioró y, desgraciadamente, se convirtió en una ruina. Muchos años después, el castillo fue renovado y después de la Primera Guerra Mundial, un albergue juvenil se instaló en el ala oeste. Así, el Castillo permaneció vivo y acogedor. Cada año se organiza en el patio interior 'Monschau Klassik', donde la orquesta y los artistas transforman el Castillo en una auténtica Meca para los amantes de la ópera.
