La Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan es una cervecería ubicada en un barrio de la ciudad bávara de Frisinga denominado Weihenstephan. Se considera a sí misma la fábrica de cerveza más antigua del mundo aunque esta afirmación está en entredicho.[1]
Hasta la década de 1950, la fábrica de cerveza describió su fecha de fundación en el año 1146. En este momento, resurgió un documento que presuntamente data del año 1040. En él, Otto I, Obispo de Freising otorgó un derecho cervecero sobre la abadía. El documento se considera como una falsificación de principios del siglo XVII. El primer registro escrito de la fábrica de cerveza data del año 1675.[2] Otra fuente, que data de 768, indica la presencia de un jardín de lúpulo cerca.[2]
