La casa Dahl es una antigua finca que data del siglo XII y aparece por primera vez como casa Dale en el año 1184. En el año 1273 se mencionó la casa Daele. Durante un tiempo, la casa también fue llamada castillo, según un documento de 1184, cuando el arzobispo de Colonia adquirió el castillo.
La sede de los caballeros estuvo en manos de los von Dahl hasta el siglo XV, luego pasó a manos de los von Kalle, posteriormente las familias von Diepfhaus y von Degingk tuvieron la propiedad entre ellas, y a partir de 1855 finalmente la familia Gerstein. La casa Dahl era en ese momento una sede de caballeros con derecho a participar en el parlamento.
