Preten es una localidad del municipio de Amt Neuhaus, situado al este del Elba, y pertenece a la localidad de Dellien en Baja Sajonia.
Preten se encuentra entre los ríos Krainke y Sude. El Krainke fluye al noroeste de Preten hacia el Sude. El Sude desemboca en el Elba cerca de Boizenburg/Gothmann. A una milla y media al norte y al este de la localidad se encuentra la frontera estatal con Mecklemburgo-Pomerania Occidental.
