Durante su viaje de Bruselas a Roma en 1655, la reina Cristina de Suecia permaneció dos días en la abadía de San Miguel de Siegburg, aunque la presencia de mujeres estaba prohibida por las reglas de San Benito. La abadía sufrió graves daños en la Guerra de los 30 años. La reina fue testigo del proyecto de reconstrucción del abad Johan von Bock.
