Calzada del Coto es un municipio y lugar español de la provincia de León, en la comunidad autónoma de Castilla y León. Cuenta con una población de 217 habitantes . El municipio lo conforman las localidades de Calzada del Coto y Codornillos.En sus orígenes la población fue conocida como Villa Zacarías,[4] nombre que desapareció a partir del siglo XI, tomando para su nueva denominación el protagonismo de una calzada romana y adoptando el apellido de Coto, puesto que la zona era el coto propiamente dicho del monasterio benedictino de la vecina población de Sahagún en la Edad Media. Fue una zona que sirvió como despensa al Monasterio de San Facundo que por entonces tenía sus puertas abiertas en Sahagún
