Lanestosa es una localidad y municipio español situado en el extremo occidental de la comarca de Las Encartaciones, en la provincia de Vizcaya, comunidad autónoma del País Vasco. Limita con el municipio vizcaíno del Valle de Carranza y con los cántabros de Soba y Ramales de la Victoria.
El municipio nestosano es el más occidental de Vizcaya y de todo el País Vasco. La villa fue fundada el 6 de junio de 1287, lo que la convierte en una de las más antiguas en la provincia.
