Está localizado en el suroeste de la provincia de Badajoz, muy cerca de la frontera de Portugal y del límite de la provincia de Huelva. Limita al norte con Higuera de Vargas, al sur con Oliva de la Frontera, al este con Jerez de los Caballeros y al oeste con Villanueva del Fresno. Pertenece a la comarca de Sierra Suroeste y al Partido judicial de Jerez de los Caballeros.
