Sampedor[3][4] es una villa y municipio español de la provincia de Barcelona, situado en la comunidad autónoma de Cataluña. Está situado al norte de la localidad de Manresa, en el sector más llano de la comarca del Bages.
El nombre de Sampedor es una evolución de Sant Pere d'Or en catalán , ya que por la localidad pasa el río de Oro, y este a su vez del latín Santus Petrus de Auro. El nombre evolucionó fonéticamente a Sampedor, hasta que en 1979 se recuperó la forma etimológica.[5]
